Steve “Thunder” Tumlin has been practicing with the firm since 1996.  He attended the University of Georgia where he obtained a BBA, graduated with a MBA from the University of Denver, and obtained his JD from Georgia State University.

Thunder has an extensive background as a businessman in addition to his practice of law.  He was President and Owner of Marietta Lumber Company after working for a national CPA firm in Atlanta.  He has served on several bank boards and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.

Thunder’s practice areas include probate, tax matters, tax preparation and consultant, Estate Planning, and transactional.  His area of concentration also includes business formation and corporate planning.

Throughout his professional career, Thunder has always been a civic and community leader in the City of Marietta.  He was the First President of Kennestone Hospice, and a Founding Director and the first Treasurer of Cobb-Marietta Girls Club.  Steve served as Treasurer for his church for many years and is a past Chairman of the Board of the First United Methodist Church of Marietta, GA.  He is a past President of the Marietta Kiwanis Club and past Distinguished Lieutenant Governor of the 15th Division of Kiwanis.  Tumlin has served as an officer of the Marietta Touchdown Club and Takedown Club; been President of the Cobb YMCA; Past President of the Cobb/Marietta Youth Museum; Co-President of Marietta City Schools PTA; and has been in Leadership Georgia and Leadership Cobb.  Currently, he serves as a Trustee of Southern Polytechnic State University.

Thunder has also served in several Governmental service capacities.  He has served as the Treasurer of the Marietta Redevelopment Corporation, Past Vice Chairman of the Marietta Board of Lights and Water, and is a past Chairman of the Marietta Board of Education.  He is a past State Representative of the Georgia House and was Chairman of the Cobb Delegation while serving. He currently serves as the Mayor of Marietta and Chairman of the Marietta Board of Lights and Water.

Thunder was born in Marietta and is a lifelong resident of the City of Marietta.  Thunder has been married to Jean Alice, who is a former Cobb County high school teacher, for 34 years.  They have three adult children; Ty and his wife, Ashley, Jamie and her husband, Ryan, and Sig; and two grandchildren, Ali and Rhodes Patrick.
